There are many opportunities for donors to support the work of the Church of St. Luke in the Fields. This page explains all the ways you can help further our ministry, music, gardens and outreach programs with your financial gifts.
Pledging The primary way in which Episcopal congregations support their core missions is through the annual pledged donations of members. Annual pledges form the basis for a large portion of our annual financial budgeting and planning. If you have made the decision to make St. Luke in the Fields your spiritual home, we encourage you to review the Stewardship 2010 page for details on how to pledge.
General Fund Gifts and Bequests If you wish to make an occasional or one-time gift to offset the general operating expenses of St. Luke's, you may do so by using this secure online form. We also encourage you to consider making provision for St. Luke's in your estate planning or when naming beneficiaries in IRA's or insurance coverage. Please consult your estate planning professional for details, and please let us know if you have made such a provision. We will be grateful indeed.
Giving to Outreach at St. Luke's The three self-funded Outreach programs at St. Luke’s rely on individual donors for more than 30% of their budgets, which total from $250,000 to $300,000 each year. Outreach receives no funds from the parish operating budget. You may give to Outreach generally, which allows staff to determine the best allocation of funds, or you may designate a specific program.

Although we hope you will give to our general outreach fund, we recognize that some donors, especially family foundations and trusts, may be restricted to giving in one particular category or another. Therefore, if you wish to make a donation to a specific program, we have made this possible online: The Church: Art, Acceptance and a Place to Be Yourself for LGBTQA Youth Donate Now An estimated 8,000 homeless youth identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender. St. Lukes location allows us to reach out to this population by providing a warm meal and art, dance, and other workshops to an average of 60 youth every Saturday. The PLWA Project: Food, Friends and Fellowship for People with HIV/AIDS Donate Now For over 20 years, St. Lukes has opened its doors to people living with HIV/AIDS. We provide a restaurant quality meal and fellowship to 50-75 people each Saturday. We also provide bedside refreshment and visits to patients in nearby St. Vincent’s Hospital. GO-St. Lukes: Nurturing the Love of Learning, One Child at a Time Donate Now This tutoring program serves academically at-risk children in grades 1-5 who require special attention in reading, writing and math. Guided by professional teachers, our tutors give the one-on-one help that these children need to succeed. Support Our Other Parish Ministries Gardens of Saint Luke in the Fields Donate Now Under the direction of our professional gardener, our parish gardens continue to flourish. These gardens provide a place of serenity and peace for people from all over New York City. Help us to continue to enhance this beautiful treasure. “My favorite places in New York are those secret gardens that you never knew were there. Like St. Luke-in-the-Fields, or the seminary on Ninth Avenue, these oases in the middle of this urban giant; they’re just amazing.” – New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn in Time Out New York.
St. Luke’s Concert Series Donate Now Led by our Director of Music, David Shuler, our music program enhances our worship and reaches out to the wider community with concerts throughout the year.
"...the intimacy of the performance, led by David Shuler, conveyed a pleasant sense of authenticity." - New York Times Flowers Donate Now Each Sunday our worship is enliven with beautiful flower arrangements. Flowers are made possible solely through the generosity of parishioners and other gracious people. A note on our policy regarding bequests: The St. Luke's Vestry has set a policy for the allocation of general bequests to the parish. If an individual makes provision in their will for a general gift to St. Luke's (without restriction with regard to use of those funds) the bequest will be apportioned between the St. Luke's General Fund and the three self-funded Outreach Programs according to a preset formula. Details of that policy are available here.
