A Message from the Rector (4/30/21)

    Dear All,

I am writing to let you know about some positive changes at St. Luke’s over the next few months.

Starting this Sunday, given the latest CDC guidelines, we will offer a modest outdoor gathering on the South Lawn after the Sunday 10:30am service for those wishing to gather in person for fellowship and light refreshments. (Under tents or a similar alternative if wet..!) It won’t be exactly the same as a traditional coffee hour, but we can begin to regather as a parish in appropriate ways. This is one way we can meet the needs of parishioners who have been longing for more opportunities to talk in person. We will continue to offer an outdoor (as well as Zoom) “coffee hour” through the summer.

As has been announced, we are replacing our church floor this summer. The design of the new floor will be identical to the current one, but without the cracks, missing tiles, holes and trip hazards!

We will continue worshiping in the Church as we are now through the Day of Pentecost, Sunday May 23. After that we will be worshiping in the School through August.

We will continue to offer in-person worship at 10:30am every Sunday.

In addition to in-person worship there will also be pre-recorded 10:30am livestream liturgies available on Sundays May 30, June 6 and June 13. From Sunday June 20 through August, we will temporarily suspend our live-streaming because there is not adequate technical capacity in the school building to offer a good quality experience. The staff team believes it is preferable to suspend the livestream for a few weeks rather than offering a poorer quality livestream that does not best reflect St. Luke’s liturgy or production standards.

We expect to be able to return to the Church for worship by the end of August at the latest.

We hope to gradually raise in-person attendance capacity over the next months, consistent with CDC and local safety guidelines. We are currently admitting well below the permissible 50% capacity out of an abundance of caution. We are delighted that there continue to be zero cases of COVID transmission through in-person worship attendance at St. Luke’s, but we want to continue to observe all reasonable safeguards, even as more of us become fully vaccinated. Therefore, please continue to pre-register in the usual way if and as more attendance slots become available going forward.

This Fall, we are planning to return to our three in-person services (8am, 9:15am and 11:15am) starting Sunday, September 19. We will also return to our daily Mass schedule on Monday, September 20. COVID safety guidelines will continue to be observed as appropriate and recommended at that time.

Please feel free to contact me directly with any questions or concerns.

The staff team is always thrilled to see you in person and we hope to see many of you venturing out to St. Luke’s for worship and other activities over the coming months.

    Mother Caroline Stacey
