ARCT Film Screening: Talking Black in America Performance Traditions
Sunday, February 8 at 1:15pm in the School Auditorium
The Antiracism Change Team invites you to this screening of Talking Black in America Performance Traditions. We will be joined by Profesor Arthur Spears, Professor Emeritus, CUNY Graduate Center and City College. Professor Spears is an Associate Producer of the film and will present and lead discussion.
This screening is free; refreshments will be provided. All are welcome to attend!
"TALKING BLACK IN AMERICA — PERFORMANCE TRADITIONS explores African American artistic forms like the Blues, Spirituals, Spoken Word, Preaching, Comedy and Hip Hop to reveal a story about the creative use of African American Language and its function as a tool for survival, liberation and belonging within the Black Community. Filmed across the United States, it is the fourth program in the Emmy Award winning TALKING BLACK IN AMERICA series, five interrelated documentaries on African American language and culture and their transformative influence on the United States and beyond.
